English-Canadian actress, producer and filmmaker Amanda Tapping is a well-recognized face in the field of filmmaking. She is most widely known for her powerful acting in the role of Samantha Carter. The Sci-Fi series of Canada named “Stargate SG-1” and also in “Stargate Atlantis.” She has successfully gained fame and name as an actress and director.
Amanda Tapping was born in Rochford, Essex, England on 28th August 1965. She later immigrated with her family to Ontario, Canada. She was only three years old then. Many people around the world also know her from the name Amanda Kovacs. She grew up with three brothers- Richard Tapping, Cristopher Tapping, and Steven Tapping. Unfortunately, Steven died in the December of 2006.
She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute. She graduated while excelling in Environmental Science and Drama. Tapping then decided to take Drama seriously when she participated in the University of Windsor; School of Dramatic Arts.
Tapping continued her education studying Theatrical Arts even after graduating. She started performing in several stage productions. Tapping is widely famous for her role as Samantha Carter in the Canadian Sci-Fi series Stargate SG-1. This was aired in 1997. She again played the same role for the sequel Stargate Atlantis. Tapping played the role of the new commander of the Atlantis expedition. Her fame was not affected even when her role was reduced to only a few appearances. She was widely known and gained fame over a short period. She concentrated on her new project which was Syfy’s series called Sanctuary. It was a webisode which was released all over the internet in 2007. She was the main start as well as the executive producer of that show.
After her first webisode, she started working with William Shatner for another webisode series “The Zenoids.” It was an animated series where she was the voiced one of the characters. She then was cast as an angel in the famous series “Supernatural” with the name Naomi. She appeared in seven more episodes of Supernatural.

Tapping’s first experience as a director was when she had the chance to direct an episode of the show “Stargate Sg-1”. It was named “Resurrection.” She then directed an episode of her new webisode “Sanctuary” called “Veritas.” Tapping directed three episodes of the series “Primeval: New World” and also four episodes of “Olympus.” She later had the chance to direct episodes on “Dark Matter” and also for “Van Helsing.” Although so far, she has not directed any major films or had the chance to feature in her films, she may have planned in doing so in her further career.
