Rory McCann is a Scotland-based actor as well as a musician. He is most famously known for his portrayal of the character Sandor Clegane in the popular HBO TV series Game of Thrones. He is also a painter who used to earn his living as a bridge painter. Since his debut in acting, he has made a lasting impression in the industry.
Born on the date 24 April 1969, McCann was born in Glasglow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was brought up along with his sister Sally-Gay McCann. His sister was born in the year 1972 when he was just aged 4. She currently works in the Costume and Wardrobe Department of Games of Thrones.
McCann attended the Scottish School of Forestry for his initial education. He was then trained by the writer-artist Robert Parsifal Finch to act. Included in The Actor’s Workshop in Glasglow, he was trained fully as an actor there.

After his initial debut, he played the character of Detective Inspector Stuart Brown in the television series- State of Play, Peter the Great, and also in Peter in Paradise. He also played the role of a priest in a British drama series called- Shameless. The series went on to win several awards.
Finally, in the year 2004, he made his cinematic debut in the film Alexander. The actors in this film were made to go through the boot-camp in the African desert. The film was a major success and he gained international recognition. Again in the year 2007, he played the role of Michael Lurch Armstrong in the film Hot Fuzz and also as Moby in the film The Crew. In the year 1990, McCan was involved in a fatal accident when he fell down while rock climbing. This happened in Yorkshire and he had several broken bones. Fortunately, there were no lasting effects and he recovered completely.
