After her debut role, she appeared in few more TV shows and finally got to play a role in the Disney Channel film- A Ring of Endless Light. However, her breakthrough into the acting field was when she was cast in the role of Naomi Wildman in the year 1998. She portrayed the character in the popular UPN sci-fi program Star Trek: Voyager in 17 episodes in three years.
For her role there, she also won the Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Following her success in the series, she then joined the cast of another tv show called- Reba. Here, she played the role of Kyra Hart, the daughter of the main characters in the series. She stayed with the show until 2007, when the show officially ended.
In 2014, she had announced that she had officially retired from her acting career except for some voice-over work to concentrate on her life-long passion for music and photography.

Struggles with Anorexia
In the year 2005, she was admitted to an anorexia nervosa treatment facility. The actress had reportedly dropped her weight down to 73 pounds when she exercised almost 6 hours a day. Because of this, her character in the series Reba had only a few appearance in the fifth season.
After coming out of the facility, she became the Ambassador of the National Eating Disorder Association and also started an organization called Arch-Angels. The organization raises money for treatment of anorexic people who cannot afford the treatment. For her incredible humanitarian work there, she was listed in the Teen People magazine’s 20 teens who will change the world.
