He then released his first debut album called- Souljaboytellem.com. The album was a major success gaining the fourth position on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/ Hip-Hp Albums Chart. The follow-up to the album- iSouljaboytellem released on December 16, 2008.
However, the album was not well-received and got negative critical reception on its release. But the single- Kiss Me Thru the Phone and Bir Walk came to the top with appreciation from the fan members.

Following the success of his albums, he then released his third studio album- DeAndre Way. This album was a collaboration with other famous artists like- Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Eminem. But the album did not go as intended and sold only 70,000 copies making it Way’s Lowest Selling Album.
After that, he released several mixtapes including- Smooky, Juice, Skate Boy, Live.Love.ASAP, Too faded, as well as LOUD. However, none was as successful as his first album release. His successful records include- Loyalty, Stacks On Deck, Better Late than Never, The Gold, Blessed, Get Rich, Super Dope, and All Black.
As a Record Producer
He produced several records including his own through the FL Studio workstation. So far, he has produced Get Silly, Marco Polo, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, DeAndre’s Way, I Am Not a Human Being, Yasss Bitch as well as Lemonade.
He has worked with several other famous artists like- Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Jay.Z as well as Beyonce.
As a Fashion Designer
Way has even launched his official clothing line called S.O.D clothing on March 5, 2008. The same year he also launched his official shoe line- Yums. He later collaborated with D. Young to create another clothing line called- Ocean Gang. All of these stores are in Los Angeles, California.

Rumors and Controversy
Way was sued by Willian Lyons for stealing his stage name- Soulja Boy which he came up with in 1996. Way was also arrested in Atlanta Georgia while attempting to run from the police. He was released after he paid- $550 in bond.
In 2011, he was again sued by a promoter for not making the promised payments related to rescheduled concert. Again on October 18, 2011, he was arrested for the possession of more than 5 pounds of Marijuana. After paying the bond amount, he got released the same day.
In 2014, he was arrested immediately when the police found a loaded handgun in his possession. However, he claimed that it was his neighbor who left the gun there and he did not admit to owning the gun. Again in October 2016, he was sued by the musician Skrill Dilly for allegedly sending death threats to him via a video.
