The talented actor is the son of Maruline Adams and the actor Jim Hutton born on August 16, 1960, in Malibu, California, US. When he was just three years old, his parents separated, and he lived most of his childhood with his mother.


For his primary schooling, he attended the Fairfax High School. However, there are no further details about his further educational status.

Early Career

Tim debuted to the entertainment industry in the 1965 film “Never Too Late.” However, that was a small role.

Later, his official debut came in several small Tv roles. His first notable work became his role in the 1979 TV film called- “Friendly Fire.”

After that, he played the role of Ross Hunter in the NBC TV series called- “The Best Place to Be.” He also started directing films. His first directed film was- “Young Love,” “First Love,” and “Father Figure.”

Groupon Controversial Commercial featuring Timothy Hutton

The Taps star Timothy Hutton was recently surrounded by controversy when his recent Groupon ad was not so well received by the audience. The 30-second ad opens with a scene of Tibet and Timothy Hutton narrating that Tibet is in trouble.

Viewers were offended as they perceived the ad was making fun of the seriousness of the problem. However, Groupon announced that they took the case seriously and they indeed intended to help the Tibetan culture. Groupon further went to claim that the ad encourages three reasons for donations- Tibet Fund, Greenpeace and the Rainforest Action Network.

Furthermore, their official website also clarified that the campaign has always been run by the company and they would never run the advertisements if not for the support from the organizations.
