Later on after the season, he ranked as ‘All-America honorable mention,’ ‘OVC Player of the Year’ and ‘All-Ohio Valley Conference member.’
On 14th October 2002, he hailed as the ‘OVC Player of the Week’ for his scramble run of 8 yards. Later on, in 2002, 19th December, he even won the Walter Payton Award. He was the first player in the history of Ohio Valley Conference and Eastern Illinois to win the award.
Later in 17th October 2009, Tony Romo’s No. 17 jersey was retired by the University during homecoming and his jersey hands in the University’s Hall of Fame.

From 2000-2002, Tony has won OVC (3 times), OVC Player of the Year (3 times), All-American (3 times). In addition to that, in 2002, he won the Walter Payton Award.
Career as a professional footballer
Tony Romo was not selected in the NFL Draft of 2003 which made him sign up with Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. But later in 2006, after staying as a holder for two seasons, Romo replaced Drew Bledsoe (Former quarterback of Cowboys’). It was during the 2006 season against New York Giants.
During the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2014 seasons of NFL, Romo got selected to a Pro Bowl and in all these seasons, his team, Dallas Cowboys’ were able to make it to the playoffs. Romo even broke the record of his team. This includes most games with a minimum of 300 passing yards.
